Motor Silk
Boron CLS Bond and its family of products (MotorSilk, LubriSilk and MarineSilk) are revolutionary lubricants developed by the U.S. Dept. of Energy at the Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago.
Dr. Ali Erdemir a tribologist at the laboratory discovered that boron could be used to create a solid boundary layer lubricant many times more durable and effective than petroleum based lubricants. His development was patented by the U.S. Dept. of Energy who still hold the patent which has been assigned to the company who developed the commercial brands of MotorSilk, et al.
This lubricant has the lowest coefficient of friction of any lubricant ever developed at 0.01%. This is 22 times more slippery than the best petroleum lubricant and therefore has tremendous friction reducing capability.
Unlike oil additives that must be replaced at each oil change, the MotorSilk engine product is used only once every 50,000 miles while the MotorSilk transmission product is good for the life of the vehicle. A gasoline and diesel fuel product is also available which is used every 10,000 miles to provide lubrication to the valve train of the engine.
The US Dept. of Energy states that 62.4% of the energy produced by an internal combustion engine is lost to friction. They further state that MotorSilk reduces friction in an engine between 30% and 50% and engine wear between 50% and 90% depending on the concentration and application conditions. All of this results in fuel efficiency improvement of 8% to 12% as well as reduction of harmful emissions and an increase in power and performance.

Motor Silk Testimonials
TB, law enforcement, Lincoln County, ME:
“MotorSilk is on all of our cruisers…we’ve increased gas mileage by at least two miles to the gallon and as much as four miles
to the gallon for at least one vehicle.”
WM, Ferrari owner, Damariscotta, ME:
“the Testarossa was idling between 800-850 RPM with the alternator light on…after adding MotorSilk the idle was steady at
1100 RPM with the alternator light off….my mpg went to 19 on the highway, unheard of for a 4.9 liter flat 12 putting out 390 HP.”
